Karin Cutler
Mixed media painter Karin Cutler creates richly textured abstract paintings as well as moody, tactile minimalistic still life paintings with subtle tone, layering and intrigue. Influenced by her Scandinavian background she enjoys a neutral and muted palette. She is inspired by the natural environment, decay and weathering, music and emotions.
“My process is organic in nature and involves building up and scraping back, using a variety of tools and mediums including natural pigments and textures. I embrace imperfections; weathered and old rather than shiny and new, is infinitely more intriguing to me. With an experimental attitude, I allow for spontaneity and emotion to guide me and invite the viewer to add their own meaning. I am on a never-ending journey to find new ways to express myself on the canvas with emotion and authenticity”.
In private collections in Australia, US, South Africa, Sweden and Hong Kong. Based in Belbora on the mid coast of NSW.
